Show WATER FOR UTAH FOREWORD The future of Utah is bound to its water and power supplies. Should they remain inadequate as at present, the State will languish. Should they be expanded to meet the needs of a growing population and the urgent pressures of western development, the State's otherwise bountiful resources and its energetic people will be given full opportunity for the creation of wealth, security and well- being. The engineers and the technicians have evolved fine plans for utilizing the waters which flow through and from Utah. However, these plans for most beneficial use of this precious resource will remain blueprints of academic interest unless statesman- like progress is made in the allocations of the waters of the Upper Colorado River Basin, and sufficient appropriations are obtained for the construction of necessary projects: dams and reservoirs, tunnels, canals and diversions, power plants and transmission lines. This report has been prepared to present compelling arguments to assist State and Federal officials and legislators in reaching equitable decisions in this most urgent undertaking- Water for Utah. It has also been prepared to acquaint business men and industrialists with the dormant potentials of a great state to which water and power mean vigorous and beneficial life. |
