Show WATER FOR UTAH base, and it is estimated that tax receipts would increase by some 40% in proportion to rising farm income. Because most of the anticipated developments will occur within and immediately adjacent to existing communities, the cost of providing additional services would be relatively less than the estimated additional income. Thus all taxpayers would gain either in reduced taxes or in additional services. Inasmuch as the major proposals for wafer and irrigation developments involve the by- production of electric power, additional benefits will accrue to the State for its domestic and industrial consumption. The sale of electric power will make possible the financing of most of the over- all water development, and its abundant supplies will redound to the benefit of the rural population as well. Thus, the development of necessary water supplies will make possible agricultural betterment for Utah. Inasmuch as Utah is an integral part of the West, its achievement of feasible agricultural potentials will assist in providing a firm base for expansion, not only in Utah but in neighboring states. For the most healthful and sound economy of the future, agricultural expansion must keep pace with other activities. To this end, irrigation - with full and adequate water suppies - is imperative.
