Note |
The University of Utah has made former and current yearbooks from various campus entities available in print and via its digital library archive. These documents contain facts and milestones about the history of the University of Utah. In some cases, these publications contain insensitive and offensive language and imagery that does not represent the views or values of the University of Utah. Insensitive and offensive portrayals of race and gender were wrong at the time these publications were originally printed, and they are wrong today. The yearbooks are presented as they were originally created and have not been edited or censored-to do otherwise would be the same as claiming these prejudices and biases never existed. - July 2019 |

Show ** ^s^1-Richard Parry ChairmanJUNIOR PROMENADEAt last the custom of having the Junior Promenade in the Hotel Utah has been broken. The Prom of 1931-32 was the first to be given in the Union Building. Because of this, the committee carried out a Union and a George Washington idea. The entrance of the building was converted into a brougham through which one passed to be met by a colonial doorman who announced the guest to the reception committee. Over the orchestra stand in the ballroom was built a colonial house with an old-fashioned girl silhouetted in an upper window. The color scheme used throughout the building was composed of green, lavender, rose, and blue. Frank Cookson and his orchestra entertained in the Ballroom while Dick Forscutt played fraternity and sorority music in the Little Theatre, which was the Panhellenic Room. In the decoration of the Panhellenic Room, the emblems of the fraternities and sororities were used on radio lamps which were afterwards presented to the various organizations. Dinner was served in the cafeteria. The exquisite decoration of the lovely new lounges was completed in time for the Prom through the co-operation of Mrs. Dinwoodey and Mrs. Beeley.
