Show UTAH VS. UTAH STATE FOR ROCKY MOUNTAIN CONFERENCE FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIPTurkey day games with the Utah Aggies have ever been the year's prime grid booking. The 1931 meeting of the two teams was just as colorful as ever, perhaps more so, because the Aggies for the first time in several years, were in a position to make a strike at the conference gridiron bunting. Utah outmaneuvered the upstate boys, who contrary to custom, adhered to a straight football attack. Fumbles proved costly to both teams, particularly to the Aggies, for their miscues generally occurred in the Redskins' territory. Christensen's 55-yard sprint for a score was the contest's most spectacular feat. Deb Young, all-conference farmer back, was carried from the game with a sprained ankle, else his team's threat might have been more deadly. The final score read: Utah 34, U. S. A. C. 0.The Utah Aggie fray was the deciding contest that concluded for Utah its fifth successive conference title. It was the Utah Aggie aggregation that nosed out the redskins six years ago and threw them into second place for the year's football title. The bunting went to Colorado University that year. Since that time the Utes have continuously carried the conference grid championships.Big Chris carries Aggie tacklers in line plunge. |
