Show 6011 to Mile 49; therefore I must have been able to get along the river bank. From there I had to go on top of this bench which I have spoken of. By Mr. Blackmar: Q Well, where was this boat in the meantime? the head of the canyon, portaged around the canyon, and put back in the river at Big Hole. We continued our survey on the bench above the river with no water readings until we got down to Mile 55. Then from Mile 56. which is Big Hole, we resumed our survey along the water surface and the use of the boats. Q Have you calculated the fall in West Water Canyon? A ( Examining map) From the head of the canyon to Big Hole, a distance of seven miles, approximately, the drop is 119 feet. Q I show you Exhibit 503, Mr. Seitz, and ask you what that is a photograph of ( handing photograph to witness )? A ( Examining photograph) That is a photograph of a section of West Water Canyon. Q Is that the bench from which you made some of your observations? A ( Examining photograph) Yes, it is. |
