A Yes, sir. Q And for what purpose is that? A Why, that is to provide control of the San Juan River. Q Looking towards what purpose? A Well, one very serviceable purpose it would serve would be to cut out a lot of the Lilt that now comes down the river. Of course, that would not be a profitable project for constructing a reservoir alone, but it would serve that pur-pose, as well as furnishing storage for any possible power development. Q Well, wherein does it become, you might say, advis-able to control the silt in the San Juan, from an engineering standpoint -- what was it connected with? A Well, the San Juan has been considered one of the principal sources of the silt that causes so much trouble in the lower Colorado, and If we could control that silt there, it would prolong the life of any reservoir built lower down. Q That is, either at Glen Canyon or Boulder dam? |
