Q And how did you get to Halls Crossing? A We went by train to Richfield, Utah, overland by automobiles and trucks to Browns Ranch, and beyond that point, which was 110 miles from Richfield, there wer no satisfac-tory automobile roads, and we traveled by wagon. We had two four- horse teams and wagons, which I can remember very dis-tinctly had no springs. Q On your trip down the river, did your boats have any difficulty with sand bars? A Yes, sir, we were stuck a number of times on the sand bars. The river is quite muddy, and it is impossible to see the channel clearly, and we were stuck I think several times, I think every time when we were on the river. By The Special Master; Q What was the date of this trip? A That was the early part of September, 1922. I can Get the date if you wish. |
