Show 6038 483 4041 A I have crossed the San Juan several times at Ship Rock, and seen it at one or two points somewhat below. I have River a number of times; been through Flaming Gorge by boat; have crossed the river at Jensen several times, and again at Greenriver, Utah. On the Colorado, starting up in Colorado, I have crossed it at a number of places; traveled along it from Dewey Bridge, below Cisco, down to Castle Creek. Then, by boat, from Halls Crossing, in Glen Canyon, to Lees Ferry. The same year, from Boulder Canyon down to The Needles; the following year, from Bright Angel Trail, in Grand Canyon National Park, to The Needles. Q In addition to the personal inspections which you have just related, have you made any outside study of the Colorado River? A Well, I have spent a good deal of time in the office, using the maps that have been prepared of the river, my own observations and those of others, and working on or criticizing proposed plans of developments on the stream. Q What has been the ultimate purpose of your study of the Colorado River-- looking towards what end? A The preparation of schemes of development by which the water resources of the river can be used to the best ad-vantage of everyone concerned, including the United States as |
