Show 438 5993 Springs. Q Well, right from Glenwood Springs to Grand Junc-tion? A The country is more or less open. Q Can you tell me anything about the width or the depth of the river through there? A Do you mean from Kremmling down to Grand Junction? Q Yes, to Grand Junction? A It will average 200 feet. Q And what about the depths? A The mountainous portion is very shallow; as you get down to Glenwood Springs, or down to Glenwood Junction, the river becomes deeper. I have no soundings. I did not make any. Q Now, starting off with Grand Junction, tell me about that, from there on down, with reference to widths, depths, and rapids, if any? A ( Examining map) From Grand Junction down a distance of 21 miles is in open country; numerous islands; the river is crooked and numerous side channels are encountered. The width -- I have not looked on this scale ( indicating) for so long, ( after examining map) 200 to 400 feet in width. |
