Show 5951 3954 reference to describing the boats. We have had the boats de-scribed twice. Mr. Farnsworth. Go Ahead. I do not object. By MR. Blackmar Q Go ahead. A Yes, I could not help noticing those sand bars that formed; sometimes there would be two or three channels going through a sand bar, and our problem at that time would be to pick the proper channel. Q Now, with reference to risings and fallings of the river, did you notice anything in connection with these sand bars? A Well, I do not believe that we had any rising water on that trip; I think you might call it the falling stage; but I am not positive. Q Do you recall whether or not the falling stage had any effect upon the river and the sand bars? A Well, it certainly must have, but we were moving pretty fast. Q I beg your pardon? A We were moving pretty fast down the stream every day. We covered five or six miles of miles of river, so we hardly ever saw the same stretch of river twice on the trip down. |
