Show Chapter Thirteen "Verus!" Sandy sobbed. "Please help me!" She picked up the spoon and cradled it in her hands. "I'm so sorry, please forgive me! I've never felt so horrid! Something's wrong with me! Please, please, Verus. HELP ME!" "Sandy!" cried Verus in alarm. "You had better get some water, FAST!" Sandy ran out of the dressing room and shouted to the clerk, who was reading a magazine. "Quick! I need some water!" The woman, without looking up, pointed to a drinking fountain. The frightened girl ran to it and turned it on. "Put your hand over the drain, Sandy. You need to fill up the bowl!" Sandy plugged the drain with her free hand and looked questioningly at Verus. "Dip me in and out of the water!" her image ordered. When Sandy dipped the spoon in, the water began to sparkle. She pulled the spoon out and Verus bade the girl to put her down and wash her face thoroughly- Before the water could drain out, she splashed it over her face. Her face tingled, and she felt all the meanness leave her. Picking Verus up gently, she went back to the dressing room and looked in the mirror. Her face was young again, and the proud look was gone. The new clothes now repelled her, so she took them off. As she put her old clothes back on, she smiled gratefully at the spoon. "Verus, this town is evil," she whispered.
