Show - e 7 - "How do you plan to catch him off guard?" came the rough voice. "That's easy. He alwpys goes to the casement window at dawn to watch the slaves in the valley coming to work. Now, while his eyes are glued to that telescope !" Rogare, chuckling, threw his arms out in front of him. "Ha! Over he'll go!" "Hey, that sounds great, Rogare," said the youth. "I'll wait by the wall!" "Now just a minute!" said the soldier with the rough voice. "How do we know you're telling the truth about the spoon?" "I've hidden it under a rock, just below the fog. As soon as that basket comes up, I'll take you to it!" Sandy listened very carefully. The soldiers soon brought the contents of the other basket to the shed and went out. She swiftly cut a slit in the sack and wiggled out. After hiding the sack and the scissors, she tiptoed to the door. The three men were walking down a rocky path that led to the castle wall. She quietly followed them. They continued along the side of the wall until they reached the stone path that led down from the castle, Sandy waited until they disappeared into the fog and then dashed from behind the wall and down the path. As she entered the fog, she could hear their voices close by. "There it is! Ha! Look at that glow!" The men were stooped over a glowing rock. Sandy stepped farther back into the fog. |
