Show Chapter Five The rocky soil twinkled all around her feet, but Sandy didn't even notice. She stared at the distant peak, hoping the bubble would come back. Several minutes passed before she realized it was gone for good. "Oh, DARN!" she wailed, and sat in dismay on the ground. Peeling the spoon in her pocket, she pulled it out. "Now what am I going to do! The bubble went off without me. Why didn't you stop it!" She started to cry. "You have nobody to blame but yourself," came an odd, low voice from the spoon. Startled, Sandjr looked closer at her image. Her image wasn't speaking! The curious voice was coming from the other side of the spoon! She turned it over, and looked into the bowl. It was her upside- down reflection that was speaking to her. "You will have to walk to Sol Vallis now," it said quietly. "But which way do I go? Can't you call the bubble b^ck?" "No, I can't." "Well, I don't need you anyway," sniffed the girl as she put the spoon back into her pocket. She sat still for a moment, thinking. There seemed to be hundreds of dark, gleaming hills stretched out before her. A little distance below her was the castle formation she had seen from the bubble. "I'll go see the castle!" She jumped up from the ground and started down the mountain. After awhile she discovered a crooked little trail.which wound past dozens of squat, stunted trees and then abruptly ended in a wide opening. The opening was dotted |
