Show in her hand. She was amazed to discover it was like walking through a heavy mist. Once inside, she sat down, crosslegged, on the bottom of the bubble. It was as soft as her own bed. The bubble began to rise, looking down, Sandy saw her house grow smaller and smaller, until it was no bigger than a tiny doll house. It disappeared altogether as the bubble ascended into a large white cloud. All day the bubble floated, propelled by gusty winds. Saitiy watched the ever changing scenery below her in fascination. "When will we get to Sol Vallis?" she asked. "It's a long way, Sandy. You will know we are near when you see the Dark Mountains." "That sounds scary. Where are they? Are they very high?" Sandy's skin prickled with excitement. "They're at the top of the world, Sandy, - and so high that no one has ever climbed then. We will have to fly over those mountain peaks to reach Sol Vallis." "How will we know when we are there?" "After we have flown over t he peaks, you will see nothing below us except miles and miles of fog. Below that fog lies hundreds of smaller mountains. They are called the "Inner Mountains. In the center of all this fog is an opening about a moLe across. This will look like the mouth of a volcano.
