Show 3.1; 4.2). Hidden Springs is another place of spiritual regard, and it along with most other natural springs in the area should be respected ( 1.3). These are certainly not inclusive of the aquatic locales on the reservation and on adjoining Forest Service lands in the Uintas that have or have had spiritual significance to the Utes. Judging by the rich and complex spiritual stories associated with water places from tribes throughout the Great Basin, there are probably other sites including some of the high mountain lakes planned for stabilization that have spiritual connections which were not revealed in the course of the consultations ( Hultkranz 1986: 633, 640; Liljeblad 1986: 653). E. 3.3 Other Spiritual Presences Like springs, caves generally have spiritual connections ( Hultkranz 1986: 633; Liljeblad 1986: 655). The only ones that were mentioned by consultants were located in Whiterocks Canyon ( 1.2; 4.2). These include a wind cave where the air comes out with force, and another with light in it in which one can see into another world ( 4.2). I l l |
