Show 539 He proceeded on down to the mouth of the Green River from the slide, and then " we went up the river about a mile and a half, or thereabouts, and then turned around and came back, and camped at the slide over night." R. 1323. The mouth of the Green River was as far as they wanted to go for the time being. R. 1323. On the return trip upstream they has the same trouble with sand bars and groundings, " very much so." R. 1324. " Q Did you find that these markings that you had made coming down were of any value to you? " A Not always; we got stuck going up on places we came over coming down. " Q When you reached Moab, what did you do with your boat? " A It stayed there at the dock for a while, then at the end of the season, some time in September,-- can't recall the exact date, -- or early, October, it was taken over to Greenriver, and two of the boys who had been working under me in the pie- shaped area, took the boat and came from Greenriver around to Moab; that was Mr. McKnight and Mr. Nye."
