" A Oh, a skiff could make the trip, a skiff such as we had could make the trip without extreme difficulty. " Q And could come back up without any difficulty at all? " A No." R. 1284 He believes that novices who use the river are always accompanied by skilled boatman. R. 1284. " Q You are serious - you mean to be taken seriously, Colonel, in your statement of your opinion that you would have had difficulty in going back up in that name boat of yours? " A I believe it would have been impossible to have gone back up in the boat. " Q Why? " A She wouldn't have gone up stream against many of those riffles and currents; it would have been necessary to get out and push or tow her. " Q At what point would you say there would be difficulty in up stream travel along that stretch?
