The photographic plates, from which the photographs put in evidence were made, were taken out by him and some exposed films that he had made from the start were taken out by Mr. Brown to Kanab and sent to Denver for development. Mr. Brown went to Kanab by horseback and brought a wagon load of provisions back with him to Lees Ferry before the boats left there. R. 1404 The films used by him were about the first ones ever used. The glass photographic plates were taken down to about the middle of Cataract Canyon where the camera was smashed and the plates lost. The plates, from which the photographs offered in evidence were taken, were shipped to Denver from Lees Ferry, he having kept as much of his photographic material as possible wrapped in his coat and a rubber blanket.
