Show APPENDIX D SUMMARY OF UNDERGROUND WATER RESOURCES COMMITTEE MEETINGS 1. November 18, 1955 - 2: 00 p. m. - 4: 20 p. m. This was the first meeting of the subcommittee on underground water. The work of the Committee was outlined and discussed, Mr. Godfrey acting as temporary chairman. Permanent officers were elected: Dr. Harold E. Thomas, Chairman, Professor Ray E. Marsell, Secretary. 2. December 17, 1955 - 10° 05 a. m. - 12: 30 p. m. Chairman Thomas discussed the memorandum covering the five questions assigned to the Committee which he had mailed to Committee members prior to calling the meeting. Mr. Thomas Jensen substituted for Mr. Godfrey. 3. February 25, 1956 - 10: 00 a. m. -- 12: 15 p. m. All members were in attendance. Mr. Joseph Tracy, State Engineer, and two members of his staff- Francis Mayo, engineer, and Robert Porter, attorney, were guests of the Committee, Mr. Tracy and his staff representatives presented an analysis of the five problems assigned to the Committee from the viewpoint of his office. In the discussion that followed, the ramifications of each question were thoroughly explored by both the Committee and its guests. On Mr. Porter's recommendation it was concluded that no new legislation covering the matter was either necessary or desirable at this time. What seems more desirable is to provide a staff adequate to administer and enforce the provisions of the present statutes. Each Committee member was given one of the assigned questions for study and report at the next regular meeting of the Committee. 4. April 14, 1956 - 10: 17 a. m. - 12: 20 p. m. Professor Criddle was excused due to absence from the state. The agenda proposed at the preceding meeting was followed. Each Committee member ( except Criddle and Godfrey) presented the prepared discussion of the " problem" assigned to him. The Chairman asked the members to revise, if it seemed desirable, their individual reports and prepare a " final draft" for presentation at the next meeting to be held early in June, 5. June 2, 1956 - 10: 10 a. m. - 12: 20 p. m. Professor Criddle excused on account of Commencement exercises at Logan, Utah. In the interim since the last meeting, Chairman Thomas had had copies of the minutes of all preceding meetings prepared and mailed to Committee members. Written copies ( the " final draft") were submitted to the Chairman by Committee members Godfrey, Criddle ( by mail), and Marsell. The Committee was joined by Mr. Lewis Lloyd. - 42- |
