And so he said, -- I said, take the car, honey be ause I'll take the bus donw. No, he said, you 've got to go bu chiken be ause you've got to make the chicken for all of them f r t rn•'oow. Y u know, sat. morning. One hour fromthat, he got down, he got the bus on the corner. The bus used to run here. He got the bus on the corner and rode, went down and got in the store and one hour later I got a telephone call that he fainted . So I said, to Natalie , Daddy's ne er fainted, there's something wrong. And she said, Oh, mam~ thatcan't be, wht you're thinking. And I said, you geton the horn while I'm driving. We left the little girl with the neighbor, Rosalyn. And we got down there and there was the doctors, the paramedics, the fire --everybody was down there, three doctors working on him but they couldn't get him back. So when I got to the door, my brothers were there. My brother-was around the corner and he came over right awya. And different people, very good friends of his. were all there and people byfue lOOs were around the place, right 1/2 block from down town. So. I got to the place, pulled in front and mybrother takes me out of the car, and he said, you can't go in the doctor said. I said, oh yes I can go in. It's my husband &ndi'm going in. So I went in and he was gone. There was nothing to -- within an hour he was gone. Sitting on thebench infue shoe dept. And that was it. So I it was shock to me and it was hard for me to get over. All his family a~~ livedhere practically. And only one brother of his lived in Omaha . T-ey're allgone, all his family is gone. All his brothers and sisters, aather and mother. We~e-¥e He was very close with his family. His sister-- they always thought we were sisters. She died quite a few years ago. I missed her very badly. Life was never the same anymore. It was awfully hadd for me to raise my two girls. And my oldest girl(married why,)left me with just Rosalyn alone and she was a I ~ little dfficult at first. She wanted everything. She d say, I want my ~ I Ddaddy. She'd wake up during the night, "Go away,mommy, I want my daddy." And that made me feel very badly1 too. (And she loved me. She came to me) L She missed him too really. LF You both suffering in your wn ways. SA Had a doctor living next door and he could hear ~im her cry and scream and he'd come over at four oclock inthe mornig, many many times and he'd kind of quiet her. And he'd say, ''you know you e-A can't bring him back. Can't be done>Rosalyn. You've got to make yo your mind. Andyou're |
