Show Sadie Appleman p.3 travel back and f rth from alt Lake to;my oldest brother. That's when my youngest brother Ben, the next one. He worked in this store, down, and the other one lived in Evanston, Wyoming, the oldest brother. Joseph. JB. They call him JB. J~ ARnovitz. A very very fine, very very popular ver very well thought of man, a very fine contributor to everything.He was very well liked and everybody;had lots of property and he was quite a wealthy man. But a very fine man. Very well thought of, all over, lots of friends. L Do you remmebr first coming to Salt Lake. SA Coming to Salt Lake. Oh, I've got a good story to tell you. My mother ancL m father and my yougnest brother Irving; we came to salt lake on a train and it took us so long. And we were coming to Salt Lake to my mmily, oh, they were all here, my youngest brother, the next one, Michael, came in, the one that's sick now. He came to Salt Lake earlier with my mother's brother. But the four of us. My mother and~ father, Irwin Arnovitz and myself came on the train. And it took us so long. We came here with our-my mother and dad were kosher always. And we had to bring our luncheon. We had to eat, for three days we were m the train and when we got off the train, we welcomed having something, you know, to eat. Because we had taken se-~eHg salami and that was ready, ready for the garbage. And my motehr wouldn't eat anything so my brother and I, Irwin, we went into the coffee shR and we brought coffee out for my mother in a glass because she wouldn't take it in a cup, you know, she had to have it in the ~~Jcause they were kosher . But they were delightful people. And very very lovely people. And everybody liked them. My dad used to go to shul all the time, he never missed a Yortzeit . He was a terrific guy an~~ we would walk to shul. We never knew what that was, not to walk to shul you know, on a holiday or a shabbes. That was a must. L Where did you live when you first came to town. SA When we first came to town, we had no home. Until. I lived with my oldest brother. Irwin lived with my uncle ~ate, the one who came here first. Nathan Rosenbloom. And my brother Mike had been not here in Salt Lake. He was in ___ iler, Idaho. He was working. My uncle Nate andhis son had opened a store in ____ iler, Idaho, in a little dinky town there. And they lived there 9ee= when we came to Sa\t Lake.They had a department store. My unle had liquor. Gold Lab~l ~as the name of that -- the liquor store. Gold Lab~ Liqu~pany. L When you frst came to SL, how old. SA Wll, I'm 83 now and we're here 63 years. L You were 20. |
