Show Esther Landa tape 1 5-11-82 p.l3 else after school, there was always one or two other kids there and we'd just go out and play ball or kick the can or hide and sick, whatever you'd play. So it never upset me very much-- I don't think I ever went to Primary. I may have but I don't remember it if I did. We used to go to the Ward shows, on Friday nights, we'd go to the movie sometime. That time the ward was --where the heck was it-- I think it was down /l?c. C/~ /lA~ on the bottom of Yale Avenue and MeLellBn Street, before the Howar~~ :=- )... home was turned into the Garden Park Ward. But I think it bothered my sister a little bit more. And it bothered my kids more. My girls. It didn't bother Howard at all, but it kind of bothered the girls. 14: How did it bother your sister. E: Well, I think she was a little more conscious of the kids going off and doing something else. Now, here good friends. Now the Brobergs I'm sure were Mormons. And Norma Broberg was a very good friend with her. -? s .. ,~ Virginia Broberg is my age. Lucille Mv~ , from across the street, from the house of polygamist mormon family. We didn't know at the time it was a polygamist but we foind out after. And they were all good friends. And I think she used to go with them a little bit more than I did. Ll: But they went off to some of their mormon activities and she didn't attend so that--social level-- E: Yeah, but sometimes she would go with them, I think. But it didn't bother me. At least I don't remember that it did. Lo: Do you remember some of the movies you saw at the ward. E: No. But I remember, we were talking about this theocher day. But when we used to go to the movies on saturday morning, and they used to have those serials about college life and stuff. And then we would come horne and reenact them. And my sister says I always insisted on being the hero and I was always beating her and our cousin up and so forth and so on. |
