Show Exercise, Leisure, and Physical Activities (Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance Survey) Regular physical activity is associated with significant physical and mental health benefits. Although Utah compares favorably with the U.S. median rate of physical activity, 72.8% of Utah residents age 18 and older are at risk for health problems related to lack of exercise10 Chronic diseases and conditions, such as arthritis and cardiovascular disease, may exacerbate behavioral risk factors such as no leisure time physical activity11 Table 70. Definitions: Physically inactive: no leisure time physical activity. Irregular: some activity, but less than 3 times a week or less than 20 minutes per session. Regular: 3+ times a week, 20+ minutes a session, but less than 50% of capacity. Regular and vigorous: 3+ times a week,20+ minutes a session, 50%+ of capacity.12 Table 71.
