Show BaseballThis is the chronicle of events that hurts. There is no consolation here. For the first time in the history of the school, Utah lost a state baseball championship. Not only lost the championship, but lost all its important games, thereby going into the miry position at the bottom where the "Shuffle hope all who shamble is here" sign is hung. The Brigham Young University team won it. No alibis are needed. The winners had a team that far surpassed any in the state, while Utah did not. The old machine of the year before was broken beyond repair by graduates and no help was given Utah's premier baseball coach, Bob Porter, in repairing it.While it would be sweet to stop right here and say no more, duty compels us to go on.In the first place Utah did not have the spirit; in the second place, Utah did not have the support, both in team work and student backing; in the third place Utah did not have a team; and in the fourth place, the destinies which make even Connie Mack and McGraw bow to defeat once every four years, did likewise with Utah. There was no chance to combat that combination.Pitchers, we had plenty of. The rest of the positions were filled with green material. Nothing more can be said. It is Utah's only excuse. The RecordUtah, 10.............Colorado Mines Seniors, 8 Utah, 2..........................B. Y. University, 5Utah, 6...........................B. Y.
