Can you remember going over to get the allotments or the rations with your parents? MC: Yes. GT: What did they used to give you in rations, what was the ration? MC: Flour, one of them 300 lb. flour, bacon, baking powder, some beans. GT: What about clothing? Was part of the ration clothing? MC: Yah, them old army jackets. GT: Still? MC: Yah. GT: Made of wool? MC: Heavy. GT: Heavy, terrible huh? Were they pretty warm in the wintertime? MC: I don't know, I didn't wear any. GT: ( laughter) Did they give them all in one size too? MC: ( can't hear) GT: Were you ever in the service, Mr. Cantsee? MC: No. GT: Did the military people ever come and try to draft any people off the reservation? MC: No. GT: Never did, huh? Did you know whether they ever tried to get them involved in the like register them for the draft? |
