Show - 2- MC: Oh, I don't know. ( voice faces, can't hear) GT: Somewhere in there. We were talking to Billy Mike this afternoon and he mentioned that they got some plots of land or allotments of land after the incident in Blanding where they put everybody in the compound. Do you recall it as happening that way? Did your folks tell you about it happening after that? MC: Yeah . . . GT: After that, but before 1930, around 24, 25, 26, somewhere in there, Did they say whether most of the people got their allotments at the same time or was it over a several year period? MC: No, I think the same time . . . GT: And granted the land. Had most of the people been living on the land before it was granted to them? MC: They were living all over this San Juan County. GT: I see. Do you think that part of the reason they surveyed that land and gave it to them up there was to move them out of this area and move them up there. MC: ( can't hear) GT: Um hum. Do you know who your grandparents on each side of your parents were? MC: No. I know them but I don't know their names. GT: Uh huh. Did they live in Allen Canyon? MC: They wandered around all over in Colorado, way down to Tuba City and Grand Junction, Salt Lake . . . GT: I see. Do you remember what your mom's maiden name was? |
