Show Utah Diptera' By GEORGE F. KNOWLTON and FRED C. HARMSTON2 Many species of Diptera occur in Utah. Some families are predominantly beneficial, others injurious. Diptera are important as pests and disease bearers to man, animals and plants; as an aid to agriculture and because many of the species are parasitic or predacious upon crop and range insect pests. Due to the incomplete knowledge of the species of Diptera and their distribution in Utah, this report has been prepared. FAMILY STRATIOMYIIDAE The larvae of some soldier flies are predacious.
