Show The Emission of Positive Ions from Heated F'ilaments Coated with Metallic Salts By MILTON MARSHALLI and FRANKLIN S. HARRIS, JR.2 The method of Dempster." using apparatus constructed principally by Beniarns.t was used to obtain positive ions from metallic salts. Lithium was obtained from spodumene, lithium and potassium from a mixture of spodu mene and leucite, sodium and probably calcium from spodumene "and pyroxene, and sodium from sodalite. From impure spodumene potassium, sodium and lithium ions were obtained, the ionization occurring in the order given. Sug gestions for improving the experimental technique and apparatus were made result of this investigation.f as a 1 2 3 Professor of Physics and Mathematics, Brigham Young University.
