Rigby, 76, justice of the peace in Centerville since 1936, died Monday at his home of a cerebral hemorrhage. Judge Rigby had been well known throughout Dais county as an actor and horseman. For many years he had been Santa Claus to numerous children at Christmastime. A life-long resident of Centerville , he was active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Later-day Saints and a high priest at the time of his death. For some 65 years he had entered exhibits of his farm produce in Utah State fairs. Born April 9, 1877, in the old Rigby homestead at Centerville, he was a son of John and Mary Ann Wright Rigby. He married Mabel Derrick in June, 1906. She died in March 1907. In June 1913 he married Blanche Barnes. She also proceeded him in death in 1931. Survivors include eight of his 11 sons and daughters, Mrs. Seth P. (Mable) Wright, Monticello; Mrs. William Merrill (Augusta) Perkins, St. Johns; Mrs. Lenton L. (Naomi) Lambright, Farmington, N.M.; Mrs. Reed (Jeanne) Mooney, William B. Seymour Dee and Lucy Rebecca Rigby, Centerville and Mrs. Ole W. (Ann) Reyerson, Kaysville; 14 grandchildren. Union Mortuary, Bountiful, will announce funeral arrangements. |
