Show he married Rebecca Chandler, and in the spring of 1949 was baptized into the L.D.S. Church. In February 1854 John Ford and his family left England bound for Utah. Departing from Liverpool, they sailed across the ocean with other Latterday Saints on the good ship Windemere; arriving in New Orleans. The group the took a riverboat up the Mississippi to St. Louis, then travelled by wagon train to Kansas City arriving in the Salt Lake Valley in September of 1854. Their first year was spent in Salt Lake City, moving in 1855 to the Deuel farm in Centerville where they lived for two and a half years. In 1858 they moved to Springville, then from 1859 until 1864 they lived on the Standish farm in Centerville. John Ford then purchased the Ricks farm where he lived the rest of his life. John and Rebecca had nine children which included Thomas, William, John Jr., Sally, Sarah and Hyrum. John Ford worked hard and soon established a business with his sons raising livestock. The business was known as Ford & Sons and operated under that name until 1886 when he retired. The business continued under the new name of Ford Brothers Land & Livestock Company. Rebecca passed away in April 1881, and in 1883 John married his second wife, Mary Ann Wright.l Mary Ann Wright came to Utah from Warwickshire, England; one of four children of James Wright and Mary Ann Stean. Mary Ann, her parents and two other siblings came to the United States in July 1870; arriving In Utah In August 1870. 2 According to an 1890 map "showing location of residences within the limits of Centerville Ward" Mary A. Ford lived in the house located at this address. 3 Mary Ann's older sister Lucy Ann arrived in Utah in 1866; she met and married John Rigby.4 William L. Rigby was born April 9, 1877 at the Rigby homestead in Centerville, the son of John and Mary Ann Wright Rigby. William married Mable Derrick in June 1906, but nine months later in March 1907 she passed away, presumably in childbirth. In 1913 he married Blanche Barnes wi th whom he had eleven children. Jeanne Mooney, the current owner of the house, is a daughter of William L.
