Smith said he left for Utah last fall; and while there -visited quarterly conferences and Kingston and Salt ke City; and described some what the decorations of the New Assembly Roam there. He had met with a great amount of 4 different sympathy for this mission, and with many friends. Had experienced some difficulty in returning here because of the bad state of the roads nd scarcity of feed. Spoke of the political atutua of the country. We ought not to trus,t in the arm of flesh but put our trust in God, and we will be preserved from the storms that might gather. Hatch'spoke of the day of rest that was coming upon the earth, when there would be none to molest in all God's holy mountain. This is the,day of God's ,Judgments. TIe need to have fa i th, humlli ty, and exert ourselves to do our duty, and not feel discouraged in settling up new countries. We should observe the Word of Wisdom and keep the Sabbath day holy. The priesthood should step forward and rebuke evil. Many apostatize because they lose confidence in themselves,their brethren and their God.
