Show 21 - Marama, the moon, made her appearance in the sky from behind the hills. Her silver light suddenly made the earth appear like unto dav. Ruru, the owl, stretched his wings and made mournful hooting sounds. His mate answered from a nearby kauri tree. Roa felt tired and was anxious to get back to his wha re after a long day of fishing. Suddenly, he felt uneasy. Something was wrong. There was an evil presence in the air. He glanced upward and saw the sky a^low with an eerie orange light. It came from the direction of his pa or village. The glow was much too bright to come from the cooking fires. "What has happened?" he asked himself. Roa quickened his pace and then began to run. He arrived upon a terrifying scene. Women were scurrying about in confusion. Children were crying. Dogs were barking and howling. There was wailing and moaning. Most of the village was in flames. "Where are all the men?" Foa cried, ^ear struck his heart and he began looking frantically for his family.
