Show 738 expedition reached the north Utah Line, and they continued down the river, meeting whatever difficulty they found in the best way possible. They encountered the first real difficulty in Red canyon; when the boat occupied by Mr. Stone ran on a rock, and he also broke an bar in running the rapid at Ashley Falls. They continued on down the river to Alhambra, Utah, where they tied up, and went to vernal for supplies. Vernal is located about fifteen or sixteen miles from the Green River, and Mr. Galloway had arranged to have a friend meet them at Alhambra with an automobile and take them to Vernal. R. 1776. They then continued down the Green River with the usual daily experience of turbulent water. It was somewhat wild in Lodore Canyon, and to a lesser extent in Whirlpool Canyon, which immediately follows Lodore, and to some extent in Split Mountain Canyon. Then on down through Ronsits Valley, where the river is very quiescent for over one hundred miles, until you strike Desolation Canyon.
