Show Utah is a unique and interesting conference site. Crossroads of the west, Utah is avisual and creature- comfort oasis. Whether you prefer the trappings of a metropolitan environment or the greater outdoor experiences, Utah has something to offer. The Salt Lake area offers the conference participant and guest much to see and do. Among the more noted attractions are the LDS Temple, Kennecott Copper Mine, and the Great Salt Lake. Salt Lake City, capitol city of the state of Utah, offers an array of restaurants, shops, sports events and theater, as well as the Utah Symphony, Ballet West and the Utah Opera. Hogle Zoo and This Is the Place State Parkwith the living pioneer village, Old Deseret, are attractions enjoyed by all ages. At night, a variety of local clubs and restaurants offer music ranging from jazz, blue- grass, blues, country and rock to big band. The area is also home to the Wasatch Mountain Range containing an extensive hiking and mountain- bike trail system. Just 90 minutes from Salt Lake City is the Uintah Mountain Range ( the largest east- west oriented range in the lower 48 states) with numerous hiking trails and excellent trout fishing. Salt Lake is within a day's drive of nine National Parks- Great Basin, Yellowstone, Grand Canyon, Arches, Mesa Verde, Capitol Reef, Bryce Canyon, Zion, and Canyon lands. Consider taking this opportunity to combine the meeting with a tour of some of the area's spectacular scenery; the mountains are close enough to reach out and touch and the desert looms just beyond the horizon. The beauty and diversity of terrain in Utah is breathtaking. From our conference headquarters you have a commanding view of the Wasatch Mountain Range to the south, Oquirrh Range to the West, and the Great Salt Lake and the Salt Flats to the Northwest. The University of Utah is located at the foot of the Wasatch Mountains and overlooks Salt Lake City. The University is a nationally recognized teaching and research institution. Its diverse student body of over 26,000 pursue undergraduate and graduate degrees with 3,400 regular and auxiliary faculty and staff in over 150 fields of study. The 1,535- acre campus offers an appealing mix of traditional and contemporary architecture all in a lush, park- like setting that is home for 9,000 trees and exotic plantings of the Red Butte Garden and Arboretum, a short walk up Wakara Way near the hotel.
