Show Author's Meeting All invited speakers and poster presenters are asked to meet with Robert Hershler of the Smithsonian Institution on Thursday at 12: 30 pm in the Ballroom to discuss publication proceedures and deadlines. Thursday. Sept. 18 Museum of Natural History Reception/ Stephen Trimble Lecture The shuttle bus will leave from University Park Hotel at 6: 45 pm. The Museum reception will take place from 7- 8 pm, followed by a lecture/ slide presentation by Stephen Trimble titled " Water in the Desert: Photographing Wetlands in the Sagebrush Ocean" in the Museum library from 8- 9pm. Trimble will share images from the surprising oases in this desert: drying Pleistocene seas, marshes, hot springs, and mountain streams. He will tell stories from his field work, describe his approach as a photographer to this vast landscape, and interweave natural history throughout. Trimble, author of The Sagebrush Ocean: A Natural History of the Great Basin, was awarded the Sierra Club's 1991 Ansel Adams Award for his photographs of the Great Basin. Friday.
