Show SECTION V FIGURES AND TABLES OF LOCATED POPULATION AND DWELLING UNITS Allocation by Statistical Area Figures 5, 6, and 7 show population and dwelling unit projections for the next 20- year period as located within each of the 22 statistical areas. These areas represent a composite of natural drainage, improvement district and census tract boundaries. Some boundary alterations were made in order to align census tracts within more appropriate drainage areas. As indicated on Figure 8, the southern end of the County is projected to receive the greatest amount of the estimated growth. Statistical Area 19 ( the Sandy area), is assumed to receive the major part, adding over 90,000 people. Statistical Area 21 is expected to add close to 85,000 people and have a total population of 179,000 in 1995. Statistical Areas 16 and 18 are expected to show significant growth as well but growth is not expected to approach that of Areas 19 and 21. It is difficult to project how much of the growth in Statistical Area 21 will be in the City of West Jordan. It is reasonable to assume that a large portion will fall within the City since the more northern portion of Area 21 is close to saturation now and growth has slowed. West Jordan will probably absorb all the growth projected for Statistical Area 9. Thus, West Jordan's 1995 population will depend on: • How it expands its boundaries. • The rate of saturation and the growth rate in the more northern section and the resulting pressure for growth in the south. 47 |
