Show awarded to the Bud King Construction Co. in September 1960 in the amount of $1,930,000. Seedskadee Participating Project-Wyoming Further studies and investigations are required on the Seedskadee participating project due to the discovery of large trona deposits under certain areas of the project lands. Advance Planning Activities The supplemental report and economic justification for the Blue Mesa and Morrow Point Dams and powerplants of the Curecanti storage unit were submitted to the Congress on July 14, 1959. Funds for construction of the Blue Mesa features of the Curecanti unit are contained in the fiscal year 1961 appropriations. Investigations of the potential Crystal Dam and powerplant of the same unit continued. The definite plan report on the Florida participating project in Colorado was completed and funds appropriated for initiating construction in fiscal year 1961. Advance planning studies for preparation of definite plan reports continued during the fiscal year on other authorized participating projects. Special recognition is hereby given to the several States of the upper and lower basins for their assistance and material participation in expediting the investigation and construction of the project. In addition to financial participation by various States, both for pre-construction investigation costs and aid in financing incremental construction costs, many of the States have facilitated the construction program by the prompt building of access roads and highways leading to the remote units of the project. These roads involved the use of State funds as well as matching Federal appropriations in certain cases. The cost of these roads is not reflected in the records of the project inasmuch as they are not part of the authorized features. 3. ALLOCATION OF FEDERAL INVESTMENT Section 6 of the authorizing act states that upon completion of each unit, participating project, or separable feature thereof, the Secretary shall allocate the total costs of constructing said unit, project, or feature to the various purposes authorized in the act or authorized under reclamation law. No projects or units have been 117 |
