Show Bureau should construct the transmission lines from Flaming Gorge to Oak Creek, Colo., and from Glen Canyon to the Curecanti area. Accordingly, aerial reconnaissance was completed and field surveys initiated on the proposed Flaming Gorge-Vernal transmission line and reconnaissance surveys were initiated on the proposed Glen Canyon-Four Corners and Vernal-Oak Creek lines. Paonia Participating Project-Colorado Work on the prime contract for construction of Paonia Dam and relocation of Colorado State Highway 133 was progressing nicely, with 63 percent completion in 54 percent of the time allowed by the contract. Muddy Creek was diverted through the outlet-works tunnel of the dam in May 1960. A portion of the Fire Mountain Canal was operatively completed in May 1960 and construction of earth lining for various sections of the canal was continuing at the close of the fiscal year. A contract was awarded in June 1960 for clearing 300 acres of the reservoir site and relocation of a country road within the site. Central Utah Participating Project-Vernal Unit, Utah At June 30, 1960, work on the prime contract for construction of the earthfill Stanaker Dam was slightly behind schedule, with 58 percent completion in 68 percent of the elapsed contract time. Concrete placement in the dam structures was essentially complete. Late in June 1960, contract award was made for earthwork, concrete lining, and structures for the Fort Thornburgh diversion dam, Stanaker feeder canal, and the Rock Point Canal extension. Hammond Participating Project-New Mexico Initial construction funds were appropriated for the Hammond participating project in fiscal year 1960. Activity during the year was limited to the preparation and approval of design data and the award of a contract for the construction of earthwork and structures for the main canal. Smith Fork Participating Project-Colorado Funds were appropriated for initiating construction of the Smith Fork participating project during fiscal year 1960.
