Show AN AMENDED NOTICE OP WATER APPROPRIATION FOLLOWING O^HER NOTICES PILED WITH THE SECRETARY OF STATE FOR ARIZONA, AND WITH THE RECORDER OP PINAL COUNTY, ARIZONA, DURING THE YEAR 1912. Notice is hereby given that the United States of Americahereby locates, claims and appropriates perpetually the waters of the wash or arroyo known as the Ak-chin wash, (sometimes called the Vekol wash), to the extent of 10,000 (ten thousand) acre feet per annum for the purpose or irrigation and domestic use on lands reserved for Indians in the County of Pinal, Arizona, the said lands which it is intended to irrigate by means of the waters of the said wash being in Townships i(. and 5 South, Ranres 2 and 3 East of the Gila and Salt River Meridian; the said Ak-Chin wash being a torrential stream in Arizona, without regular or normal flow whose flood waters are tributary to the Santa Cruz River or creek, and which flow into the channel or channels of the said Santa Cruz River at points in the vicinity of the town of Maricopa, Arizona, and the Pima Indian Reservation of the Gila River, Arizona. The United States intends to construct and maintain a canal for the carriage and distribution of said water from the Ak-Chin wash or arroyo, for the irrigation of the Indian Lands as hereinbefore described, said canal to commence at a point near the mouth of the said wash where it debouches or spreads out on to the level plain in approximately Township 5 South, Range 3 East, Sections 6 and 7, of the Gila and Salt River Meridian, or at some other suitable point higher up the wash to be selected by engineers of the Government; and the said canal running in such direction as is best suited to the irrigating of the hereinbefore described Indian lands. The right to change the point of diversion is expressly reserved. This notice shall not be deemed in any particular a waiver of any property interests or rights now or heretofore reserved, held or claimed by the United States for Indians under any acts of Congress or the executive department of the Government, or under filings, |
