Show NOTICE CF WAT3R APPROPRIATION. Notice is hereby given that the United Statesof America hereby locates claims, and appropriates perpetually the water of the Santa Cruz creek or river and its tributaries, torrential or otherwise, flowing in the channel or channels of the said Santa Cruz river and in the branches of the same, as to both the surface and underground flow, to the extent of 60,000 (sixty thousand) acre feet for the purpose of irrigation and domestic use on lands in the county of Final, Arizona, which are reserved for, occupied by, or intended by the United States for allotment to its wards, the Papago and Pima Indians. The United States in4ends to construct and maintain irrigation works, including dams for the diversion of said quantity of water, canals, reservoirs, tanks and other works for the irrigation of Indian lands as above specified, in the County of Pinal, State of Arizona, at points along the course of the Santa Cruz river as hereinbefore described, and the channels and braiches thereof. The points of diversion are located: (1) In Township 5 South, Range I; east, of the G-ila and Salt River Meridian in the vicinity of the Indian village known as Ak-chin, said village being near the town of Maricopa Arizona: and (2) Approximately in Township 9 south, Range k east of the Gila and Salt River Meridian at or near the reservoir site situated in an un-surveyed section lying almost due north of the United States Land Monument No. 1353 and 1 mile north of Mineral Survey Monument No. 2l4|.l, and (3) At such other suitable points along the course of the said Santa Cruz river and its channels, branches and tributaries, either above or below the points hereinbefore described, as may be selected by engineers of the Government.
