On acct. of Mrs. Caskey' brash tumble, he says he must give up his position in the Institute and seek a new field of labor at a lower altitude. He wished to talk with me about trying to secure you as his successor. I told him the college wished to retain you permanently in its service, and could not consider to give you up except temporarily, for a year or two, while we are getting our college building. But I told him that in view of the very great importance of the work and of the importance, also, of keeping the institute and the college in close harmonious relations with each other, I would not object this writing to you about the matter.
