I heard from Mr. Caskey yesterday that his salary is only $1400, and I suppose the H.M. Bd. Would not be willing to pay more. If you should think favorably about taking the place, I suppose you would naturally live in the Octagon, and I think Mr. Caskey pays only $200 a year end. I feel just this way about the matter: None of us should consent to give you up in the college except for a year or so until we get our college building. On the other hand, I am very anxious to have a closer relation between the Institution and the College than is at all practicable with Mr. Caskey. For while he is very efficient not one man in a thousand can work with him in a subordinate ca[pacity.] <br> [Continues on next page.] <br><br>
