Caskey <br> Salt Lake City <br> Aug 12, 1903. <br><br> My dear Mr. Caskey:- <br><br> Your letter was waiting for me here at Virden, when we arrived last night after our visit in Indiana, having been received here some days earlier. It would have been a great surprise to me if it had not been that a letter from Dr. McNiece use had we last week, having been sent directly to Resing Inn. <br><br> We are both very sorry that we are to lose you from Salt Lake, especially since it is due to Mrs. Caskey's ill health. But we hope and trust that the change of climate will even support your expectations in restoring her. <br><br> As to my trying to fill your positions, I felt at first that it was out of the question. I know the requirements of the place, and the importance of your work so well that it would be with strong misgivings that I would undertake anything that might result in inquiry to the school that has made such progress and gained such a name under your management. Then, too, I like my present position, with its leisure and freedom from care and responsibility, - looking at it from a selfish standpoint. <br> [Continues on next page.] <br><br>
