Show Salt Lake Collegiate Institute.
Robert J. Caskey, A. M.,
Principal,
Salt Lake City, Utah.

August 25, 1908.

Mr. Geo. B. Sweazey,
Virden, Ill.

Dear Mr. Sweazey:-

Your letter of the 22nd inst. is at hand. If it had not been for the fact that I am kept so constantly engaged with the teachers' convention which is now in session, I would have written you yesterday. I talked with Dr. McAfee Saturday of my plans, and handed him my formal resignation afterward, together with my recommendation as to my successor. You may have a letter from him before this reaches you informing you of his action. He givrs [sic] me reason to believe that the recommendation I have made will be acted upon favorably. As I understand the action of the Board of Trustees leaves you free to take up the work I am laying down, I shall make my plans to turn the institution over to you Sept. 12. That is, I have recommended that your employment date from Sept. 1st, but it is my expactatmon [sic] to stand by the faculty and you till the work has been organized for the year. That will make it much easier for you to get hold of the reins. Understand that I am not intending to hold on one minute longer than you want me to. I only mean to givc [sic] you all the assistance I can to get started.

Mrs. Caskey starts for Omaha next Thursday to be gone for two months or more. Dr. and Mrs. Wishard will be leaving for California about the first of September. I think it will be possible for us to take your family into the Octagon on your arrival till you decide what you want to do about your living arrangements. Keep us informed of your plans.
[Continues on next page.]

|
