Show X77. CHAPTER X. Sunny and Olaf came back from Blue Burg bringing the smell of fresh air into the cabin and Bill said, "Leave the door open and let some of that spring sunshine in." Bill covered Little Bill, who had gone to sleep. As Olaf was taking off his coat Bill could smell heavy liquor fumes, but he put his head up immediately sensing it was a different smell than the rot-gut Jake had been selling all winter. "What's the news?" "Brandy's the news Bill;' said Olaf. "Food?" Bill asked. "Good Pisco brandy, straight from Old John Sutter himself. Three men just rode into Blue Burg. They planned to pick up Swede Johnson to hunt for them. They're on their way to St. Louis." "Is a food wagon train on it's way?" Bill asked again. "Sure, sure." Olaf said as he poured a drink from a pint bottle of brandy. "To us Bill for getting through this infernal winter. Worst one of the seventeen I've been in the West-includin' forty-seven!"
