Show Woodworth/149 Kathy Grayson is tanned and healthy in her bright floral print shift. Ruth thinks it's time Kathy wore more conservative clothes. She's too old to be showing off that way. "Hello!" Kathy sings. She hugs them both briefly, allowing Ned to kiss her on the cheek. She always has this energy, even though she works full time at the Museum. She even looks more relaxed since she started the job. Ruth thought once about applying there, too, but didn't want it to look like she was imitating anyone. "Gray is out by the pool. With the way the heat has been, he's probably in the pool at the moment. He's been in it most of the day. You should really feel free to come over any time you want. If there isn'it anyone out by the pool, just come pound on the door. Or go ahead and dive right in. We don't use it as often as we should." She leads them through a hall that is sparsely furnished with light, modern furniture. "They're here!" she sings to her husband. Gray looks up. He is bent over a bar-cart, slicing limes. • Nothing about him is Gray- He is wearing a flowered Hawaiian shirt and jeans. They both look like they do nothing but lie in the sun all day and relax. "Hoowtdy do," he says, and smiles at them before he goes back to slicing limes. "What can I get you to drink?" "What's the house specialty tonight?" Ned asks, moving forward. Ruth drops into a chair. When Ned moves into his jovial, party mood so quickly, she is bored, doesn't feel like talking. "You name it. Everything short of a Side Car or a Grasshopper. Although, if I knew what they were, I'm sure I could make one. I've cerJflJTlly jafo iyi tfte ingredients." He points to the floor |
