Show Woodworth/52 towards her. Marty laughs. "Her?" and Rachael smiles at her. "Hell no," Rachael says. "I think it's healthy. At least, for the most part. I mean, there's some people who do it for unhealthy reasons. To get back at someone. Or at themselves. Like they always say that prostitutes get into that whole business because they really hate men. But if you're just doing it because you like it - because both of you enjoy it, and there are no strings attached, then I think it's great. If everyone involved realizes that it's just for the enjoyment of it, I think that's healthy." "What about the old-fashioned idea of sex for the purposes of procreation?" Dave asks. "Sure. I mean, that's good, too. I'm not against families or anything. In fact, one of the things that I have learned from teaching kids is how important the family is. The kids that come from shitty homes have a really hard time with some of the most basic things. I'm not talking about learning how to read and write. I'm talking about stuff like learning how to go to the bathroom by yourself. Or play with other kids. The ones that come from good families - ones where they get a feeling of security and order - they can do anything. They're the ones that take off and look at things for themselves when you take them on nature walks. The ones that ask questions when you take them to the zoo. It's like they don't mind going off and looking for things by themselves, because they know that there will be something to come back to. And they know what that something will be. Heme is predictable. Mommie will always love them. Daddy will always come home at five minutes past six, and he wiliyalwaya -wttell- like cigarette smoke. Or whatever it is. |
