Show Facilities to be constructed at this site include a boat launching ramp, marina, campground and picnic areas, and a visitor contact building. Most of these facilities are scheduled for completion in June 1966. D. TRANSMISSION DIVISION The Transmission Division provides facilities for the delivery of Colorado River Storage Project power to major load centers or to delivery points from which other agencies may transmit the power to load centers and to interconnect the generating plants of the Colorado River Storage Project with each other and with adjacent Federal, public, and private utility transmission systems. Construction Activities Construction of the CRSP backbone transmission, communication, and control system was essentially completed by the end of September 1965. The Vernal, Hayden, Shiprock, Mesa, and first stage of the Pinnacle Peak and Curecanti Substations were also completed. In the spring of 1964 construction was started on the Archer Substation, and in the spring of 1965 construction was started on the Flagstaff Substation. In the summer of 1965 construction was begun on the second stage of the Pinnacle Peak Substation. On July 2, 1963, a contract to build the 157-mile Hayden to Archer 230-kv line was awarded. As of September 30, 1965, this line was about 90 percent completed. On December 13, 1963, a contract to build the Curecanti to Poncha 230-kv line was awarded and was more than 80 percent completed by the end of September 1965. A contract for construction of the Glen Canyon-Flagstaff 345-kv line No. 2 was awarded on July 9, 1964, and a contract for construction of the No. 2 Flagstaff-Pinnacle Peak 345-kv line was awarded on June 5, 1964. At the end of September 1965, the Glen Canyon-Flagstaff No. 2 line was about 50 percent completed, and the Flagstaff-Pinnacle Peak No. 2 line was about 60 percent completed. As of September 30, 1965, the microwave system was in operation, and the load frequency control system was ready for check-out and placing in service. Power Marketing With the assurance of an adequate water supply, the Secretary of the Interior authorized the marketing of Storage Project power from the Glen Canyon Storage Unit in addition to power under contract from Flaming Gorge. Power is now being marketed in Regions 3, 4, 5, and 7 of the Bureau of Reclamation which includes 81 |
