Show Advance Planning The Definite Plan Report is scheduled for completion in January 1967. The report will contain individual plans for each of four tributary units. A draft of an interim report on the Pojoaque unit has been completed and is currently being reviewed by the Commissioner of Reclamation. The interim report on the Llano unit is to be completed in the near future. Specifications for construction of Oso Tunnel, diversion dam, and appurtenant structures have been issued. Bids are to be opened on January 11, 1966. Preparation of specifications for construction of Heron Dam, gates, and accompanying equipment is underway. Invitations for bids are scheduled to be issued in January 1966. Construction Activities Award of a $10.6 million contract was made on May 11, 1965, for construction of Blanco Tunnel, diversion dam, and appurtenant structures. Notice to proceed with the work was issued on May 13, 1965, and at the end of the water year was about eight percent complete. Award of a $1.6 million contract was made on July 22, 1965, for construction of El Vado Dam outlet works. Notice to proceed with the construction was issued on July 28, 1965, and on September 30, 1965 was eight percent finished. Construction of Azotea Tunnel and auxiliary structures was 25% complete at the date of this annual report. 4. UTAH a. Central Utah Project (Initial Phase) The Central Utah Project (initial phase) will provide water for irrigation, municipal and industrial use, and power generation. Benefits also will be realized in the fields of outdoor recreation, fish and wildlife conservation, flood control, water quality control, and area redevelopment. The initial phase consists of four units. Largest of these is the Bonneville Unit which involves diversion of water from the Uinta Basin to the Bonneville Basin and associated developments in both basins. The other three units - the Vernal, Upalco, and Jensen - provide for local development in the Uinta Basin. 90 |
