Show cultural and industrial development of the Upper Basin, ..." directs its staff to actively participate and cooperate with the officials of the State of Wyoming, the appropriate Executive Branches of the Federal Government, Members of Congress and other parties in doing all things necessary and reasonable to accomplish the objective of perserving and enhancing the Eden participating irrigation project by its completion to a sound and efficiently operated reclamation project, and urges the Departments of Interior and Agriculture to expedite their planning and construction programs on the Eden Project in order to meet the economic emergency; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that copies of this resolution be transmitted to the president of the United States, Secretary of the Interior, Secretary of Agriculture, Director of the Bureau of the Budget, Governors and Members of Congress from the Colorado River Basin States, Commissioner of Reclamation, and to other interested parties. In the interest of fostering a sound federal reclamation program for the West, the Commission on November 5, 1964 also adopted a resolution opposing the abandonment of a reclamation project, or the sale of farms to the Federal government after rehabilitation and continuation of the project have been recommended. This resolution followed Congressional action (78 Stat. 156) permitting the landowners on the Third Division of the Riverton Project, Wyoming to abandon and sell their farms to the United States. The Riverton Project is not a part of the Colorado River Storage Project and participating projects. For the purpose of this report the text of the resolution explains the situation.
